Astro Boy The Movie

The latest anime movie adaptation to hit the big screen is 'Astro Boy' featuring the voices of Nicolas Cage (National Treasure), Donald Sutherland, Kristen Bell, Nathan Lane, Bill Nighy and Freddie Highmore (The Spiderwick Chronicles, The Golden Compass). Directed by David Bowers for Summit Entertainment. Astro Boy is a Japanese anime created and written by Osamu Tezuka. The screenplay is written by Timothy Harris.

Plot:
Set in futuristic Metro City, Astro Boy is about a young robot with incredible powers created by a brilliant scientist in the image of the son he has lost. Unable to fulfill the grieving man's expectations, our hero embarks on a journey in search of acceptance, experiencing betrayal and a netherworld of robot gladiators, before he returns to save Metro City and reconcile with the father who had rejected him.

Released by Sony Pictures, Astro Boy is flying high in the USA on October 23, 2009. Pioneer International has not yet released the date of its Philippine screening.
